“经三纬二”、“经七纬一”、“经三纬八”……如果是第一次来济南的话，你也许会感到好奇：“济南人怎么想起用经纬来命名道路呢？”“为什么济南的经纬路与地理坐标的经纬正好相反呢？”这就要从济南的开埠说起了。 1904年，为发展济南经济，当时的清政府将济南东起十王殿（今纬一路），西至北大槐树（今纬十路），南沿赴长清大道（今经七路），北以铁路为限（今经一路），计东西长约五里、南北约二里的区域划作商埠，用以商货转输、发展商业。同时，规划了商埠区的经纬马路。我们知道，远古时代我国的纺织业即很发达,祖先把长的线称为经线,短的为纬线。因此，依“织物”“长者为经，短者为纬”的称说，命名东西向道路为“经”, 南北向道路为“纬”，与经路基本垂直相交。经纬路的命名，体现了当时济南纺织业的繁荣景象。一百多年前用纺织物来命名道路，不仅在当时是独一无二的，即便是现在仍是独具特色的。 Why the Roads in Jinan are Named with Latitudes and Longitudes?Longitude Three and Latitude Two Road, Longitude Seven and Latitude One Road, Longitude Three and Latitude Eight Road……If you come to Jinan for the first time, you may feel interested that the roads in Jinan are named with longitudes and latitudes which are just opposite to the geological coordinates. The reason is connected with Jinan’s opening up to the outside world.In 1904, in order to develop the economy of Jinan, the government of the Qing Dynasty lined out an area in Jinan as a business district for cargo transportation and trade development. This area started from Shiwangdian (Altitude One Road today) in the east to Beida Huaishu (Altitude Ten Road today) in the west and Changqing Avenue (Longitude Seven Road today) in the south to the railroad in the north (Longitude One Road today). It was about 5 li long from east to west and 2 li wide from south to north. At the same time, the roads in the business district were named with longitudes and altitudes. We know that in ancient times, the textile industry in our country was well developed. The longer threads were called longitudes while the shorter threads were called altitudes. According to this tradition, the longer roads from east to west were named with longitudes and the shorter roads from north to south were named with altitudes. The roads of longitudes are basically vertical to the roads of altitudes. To name the roads with longitudes and altitudes more than 100 years ago was unique and represented the prosperity of the textile industry in Jinan.
